In attendance . Rev Anthony Calgren (Call) Bob Johnson, Claire Kennedy, Lora Caldwell, Richard Mcvay, Mark Mateja, Debbie Spilko
Debbie talked about counter recruitment info….will put link on Epi site…target colleges not just high schools.
A statement is needed that we are not necessarily against the military.
Committee formed Debbie, Mark and Beth.
Oct 16th sign posting was just Bob Lora and a few teenagers…posted 40 signs.
Oct 16th Military rape awareness week…Debbie, Marsha, Hallie (women in black) Kaye, Sandy , Richard went to recruiting station and spoke to recruiters and passed out flyers and left info. Richard suggested we do something here in Erie.
Oct 17th was only 6-7 of us but used the time to discuss counter recruiting.
Oct 7th demo was excellent w radio and news coverage 18 people
Veterans Day event set up Perry Square 4:15 Wed
Nov 11th …silent vigil holding ribbons candelight 5-5:30
SOA Info discussed from Jane Kirk….could we sponser $ as well as get out an ask for other groups…Lead, etc to see if they’d like to donate . We would like to donate 100.00 from EPI
Jive Unlimited ( or any coffee shop) event fundraiser or ribbon display or meeting there…will keep doors open.
Films- Mike Michaelson offered to show Rethink Afghanistan at his home…Richard also mentioned viewing film in his office. Jane purchased the DVD. Mark suggested admiral rm at Blasco library. We also could watch movie at next meeting Nov 3rd
Announcements: Deb Spilko Rahm Emanuel says we should not put more troops into Afghanistan until their government is stable.
We are a gathering of people from Erie and Crawford counties who are concerned that the US war on terrorism has become a permanent global war. We are committed to education and action to stop this "War on Terrorism." We want to stop the escalation and spread of such war and to work for true justice and peace.
