Erie, Pennsylvania- At noon on Wednesday, October 7– the Erie Peace Initiative and friends will stand with peace and human rights organizations all over America to mark the eighth anniversary of the war in Afghanistan.
Whether you join a vigil or another peace event, help the Erie Peace Initiative, American Friends Service Committee, and the United for Peace & Justice bear witness to the human and economic cost of the Afghanistan war.
The latest opinion polls show that 57% of Americans are against this war. With every soldier and civilian death in Afghanistan, public support lessens— here and in Europe. The United States top three NATO allies— Britain, France, and Germany— want to reassess the mission.
We are a gathering of people from Erie and Crawford counties who are concerned that the US war on terrorism has become a permanent global war. We are committed to education and action to stop this "War on Terrorism." We want to stop the escalation and spread of such war and to work for true justice and peace.
