Erie Peace Initiative Meeting
October 21,2008
6:00 Bob Johnson called meeting to order
In attendance: Bob Johnson, Lora Caldwell, Kaye Cofini, Jane Kirk, Anne Zielinski, Richard McVay, Mark Mateja
1. Intros and agenda review
Kaye Cofini suggested we show up outside of Mercyhurst college 2:00 and 8:00 for showing of Uncounted Oct 22nd
2. Evaluate last 2 weeks of actions
A. Protest English last night.
1. Good turn out from EPI, but poor from others.
B. National Guard Conference in Pittsburgh Oct.11 , 2008 ( Bob J & Richard M) Follow through with Women in Black, EPI and Allegheny Peace group.
Discussion regarding EPI doing demos each week same time same place 38th and Liberty or 38th and Peach possibilities...table idea until after Nov 11th event
1. VERY GOOD SHOWING from this area.
2. Much more to be done after elections
3. Upcoming actions for discussion
Idea of counter recruiting in schools as a peace group w info pamphlets even discussions w guidance counselors is a possibility. Use AFSC info? Presence in high schools?
A. Sign party--- Nov. 2 , 2008 --7:00
Kaye also suggested we find a "field" to post 500-700 signs in shape of peace signs
B. Veterans day silent vigil---Nov. 11, 2008 --Perry Sq. 5:00 to 5:30
1. We need to get the word out on this . Anyone available to help w/ ribbons at 4:30 p.m.? Richard will get out press release.
4. What can we do with 4000+ ribbons (Lora)

5. We need to update the EPI Website
Do we have a letter head? Passed around 1 idea
6. We need more people writing letters to the Erie Times News.
