We are a gathering of people from Erie and Crawford counties who are concerned that the US war on terrorism has become a permanent global war. We are committed to education and action to stop this "War on Terrorism." We want to stop the escalation and spread of such war and to work for true justice and peace.

Erie Peace Initiative minutes

In attendance: Bob Johnson, Lora Caldwell, Jane Kirk, Jen Highfill, Richard Mcvay, Anne McCarthy, Beth Rockwell, Sally and Paul Nunes, Barb Roseborough

7:10 Bob Johnson called meeting to order

Fri 19th Press Conference 11:00 sharp with Pat Harkins. We need to spread the word and get people there. 6th and Parade. Press release sent out by Richard

Anne will work on “Keep the PA Guard Home” sign. Armory needs notified that we will be there. Richard will bring petitions to give to Harkins. Flyer (Bring home the Guard) will be quoted, as well as statement from Pittsburgh, then Harkins introduced to speak. Outline for media needed. Anne McCarthy can bring sound system.

Would be nice to have veterans hand petitions to Harkins

Richard suggested a phone tree for EPI and other like organizations. Any volunteer to put this together?

AFSC counter recruiting update: Rebecca has put together a list of school contacts and cover letter needs written. Rebecca will check to see if Mark did order brochures.

4,000 ribbon update: on display at McDowell thru Jan 5th excellent display

Rebecca organized web site by categories such as past events, videos, pics, upcoming events, etc. Would be willing to help train someone to update web site. Let her know if anyone wants to do some writing for website (letters to editor could be posted)
